A singular possessive noun shows ownership.


It shows who or what owns something.


Instead of saying: The farm that belongs to my grand father is huge, we can say :My grandfather’s farm is huge.


A singular possessive noun is formed by adding an apostrophe(‘) and an “s” to the noun.


Example: The dog that belongs to Ralph is fierce.

A plural possessive noun shows ownership.


Instead of saying: The horses of the boys are very fast , we can say: The boys’ horses are very fast.


“boys’ “ is plural possessive noun.


a plural possessive noun is formed by adding (‘) to the plural nouns that end in (S) and (‘S) to the plural nouns that do not end in (S).


Example: The dogs of the girls are fierce


Becomes: The girls’ dogs are fierce.
